| Chico Chucked | A split City Council voted to ban disc golf in Upper Bidwell Park Tuesday night.
After hours of debate and public discussion, the council voted 4-3 in favor of not allowing the sport, sometimes called Frisbee golf, in the park. Trailhead access will still be allowed, but the council will look into restoration alternatives for the site.
The decision came after a presentation of the Bidwell Park Master Management Plan Update and Associated Park Improvement Projects, a follow-up to an Environmental Impact Report used to determine if a redesigned course is environmentally friendly.
The council moved to adopt a resolution certifying the report's findings, and moved to discuss the specific options within the updated plan dealing with disc golfing. | 11/19/2008 8:10:41 AM | 3 | shastamaster |

Great opener for the Series, loved the weather (really!) and the Adv. Master groupings for the day. Good job Super Dave! Props, to the ARP team for putting it on.

| Unauthorized course mods at ARP | I don't know who is doing it, or even if it's any of you that read this board, but people have been taking liberties at the course, CUTTING DOWN LIMBS, BREAKING TREES and the like. This really needs to stop. If you don't like a certain branch or tree because it makes the hole too hard then GET BETTER or go to Enterprise Park. Don't just take out your clippers and ruin it for everyone else. Case in point - someone just cut a big route through on the left side of hole 1 where there didn't used to be one. Not only does this make the hole easier, it allows discs to get lost in the grape vines more easily thus slowing down play. Believe it or not there are reasons why some things are NOT TRIMMED! If you know of or see anyone doing these things, please ask them nicely to cease and desist. It is very discouraging to work so hard and put in so many hours to have people ruin things for their own benefit. Thanks! | 10/20/2008 3:26:40 PM | 4 | Kirbyr98 |

| Discs for Schools @ Anderson | Hey Everyone, I will be collecting all unwanted discs for the PE programs at Weed High School. Just like always bring those unwanted, never used, too old to throw, doesn't work for you and any other excuse type disc you don't want. The PE teachers are excited to add disc golf to the PE programs and the Shasta Series golfers have always made the disc golf programs at my schools an effective and efficient way to introduce the sport to high school age kids. The buyin will be 20 and you keep your disc. This will be a from the shorts with just a glow putter. You will get a new putter and you will get to keep it. I need to have feed back to see if you guys want to do this and if your available. Chico? would be fun to have you guys show up and give alittle compitition. Weed? Same thing. If you guys could just leave a responce on the forum. Or talk to me at league. | 9/4/2008 9:48:46 AM | 8 | THEBUS |
| Potential new course area | To whom it may concern I have just recently moved into the Girvan Rd area and have noticed a Redding owned park off of Olney Creek that looks as though it would be suitable for a disc golf venue. After turning onto Girvan you follow Girvan down about a mile or so and there is a park on the right just after you cross the Creek. It has walking trails, a BMX area and behind the BMX area there is a what I think suitable area for a disc golf course that runs along the creek. Now this is a self serving post in some respects because this would be very close to me, and I am insure if the RDGA has considered this spot previously , But since you folks already have a relationship with the RMC I thought whoever does these things might want to take a look at this area. It would be wonderful to have another venue. With talk if throwing out some of the other venues this might be a solution for a permanent course Thanks for your consideration on this | 9/3/2008 4:49:39 PM | 3 | jboyst |

| Shastice feedback | What do you think? Red West - is pretty much done other than pads. Green North - we did some more trimming last night. Yellow East - We did A LOT of trimming last night...greens are much nicer today... Blue South - needs a bit more triming on a few holes and we changed top of the world so you could see it. What I really want to know is what you like and more importantly dislike so we can start moving forward on pouring pads. I want to move slowly in case I see needed changes. So GIVE ME SOME FEEDBACK please. Chip - Which course were you asking about 6 and 7? Was it top of the world (hole 6) and then driving and playing out on hole 7 before playing out on 6? If so...I know...it is a querk...same as 8 and 9 on COS...sort a a querky signature of my courses I guess...yuk... | 8/29/2008 2:23:42 PM | 10 | JLee |
| Schedule changing | I saw that my Phone# was not on there corrctly so It's 953-8528. Feel free to call on anything. Also I saw the post where Enterprise and Horse Town were offered up in the removal vote for schedule changes. Enterprise is a very easy course in our league. It's were the the players who are just getting their game together shine most. With that being said I wouldn't mind if we had another spot like Orland to play at inplace of Enterprise. The second thing was throughing out Horse Town. I think this would be like throughing out MT SHASTA. Horse Town has become a staple of sorts and I don't beleive there is a good enough reason to through it out. People say its because of the cross overs, well I haven't been to a course "PDGA" course yet without at least 4 cross overs in it. Except the ones that have recently been put in within the last 5 years. Just saying if you guys want to X Enterprise, I would be more then happy to permenitly take Horse Town if the Silver Backs would like it. After all that's what Champs do, They come back and coach later!!!! HA HA HA HA!!! JUST JOKES! | 8/26/2008 10:14:32 AM | 9 | THEBUS |

| Shasta Series #7 - 2009 handicaps | Handicaps Shasta Series #7
In an attempt to dial in our handicaps I will be implementing a change in this years formula. Last year we implemented taking the average of the last 8 events (so Enterprise being the first event calculated the previous 7 years events). This gave every course played the ability to be averaged in to the golfers handicap…works very good.
However – we also removed the rule that you can only post a tournament handicap (handicap you score in an individual event that will be averaged with the other 7 events) …can only post a tournament handicap that is 2 strokes worse than your average handicap. You can post as many strokes better but only 2 strokes worse. We removed this thinking that averaging the eight events would water it down and would not be of a worry. However…it was still possible for people to sand bag an event or events(throw real bad once out of the money in order to get a very high tournament handicap) which DID effect there overall handicap.
SO – I went back through last years tournament handicaps and reinstated the rule…your handicaps will be more reflective of your true capabilities and take away the chance for people to sandbag…
Any thoughts or concerns?
I will send out another email with the actual stats that shows the formula that is being used.

We are planning on the Jones n for a tourney Tourney on Sept 27th at Shastice park (unless we want to have it somewhere else) where we will discuss next years agenda. Agenda items that we can hash out are below…add any you would like to discuss. I would like to hash out a lot of this stuff so we narrow down to key items prior to the event.
1. Schedule – discuss current structure and venues
2. Handicap structure – would like to go back to no more than two strokes above your handicap for a tournament handicap. That will keep people from chumping up and posting a huge number. Would like to keep the past 8 event average to keep all course weighted equally.
3. Discuss payouts to make sure we are doing the best for all golfers.
4. Discuss Shasta as end of the year event.
5. Is our current structure working – 4 people (Event coordinator – stats – treasure – sponsor) along with support from 8 td’s - process good enough for issues that arise?
6. What other issues are out there hanging?

Long-story-short -... I need money, and and i need it fast (within 2-3 days and i can close a deal on a place- which right now in Chico; are scarce).
I know a few of ya know me really well, many are acquaintances and some (i'm positive.) have no clue who I am.
But this plea goes out to ALL.
-IF you can help in any way, please do. They say it doesn't hurt to ask...well I'm askin!
If you can help in anyway, please call me - 530-604-2101.
I can simply give you my acct.# to make it easy.
My Financial Aid pays out Aug./Sep.
- I will reimburse all monies + 10% interest (more if necessary :( )
That's my song & dance :) .
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!

| Silverback Down | Hello to all, just wanted to give everyone an update on my ankle. My ankle is doing very well and seems to get a little stronger everyday. I will be back in top form and ready for the start of the new series in November. Thanks for all the support and I am looking forward to seeing you on the disc course really soon. Big up's to Team Silverback, without them taking quick action I would have been in real big trouble and I may have sustained greater injurys. Thanks again guys for everything. | 7/22/2008 12:45:35 PM | 6 | Joel |
| Riverbend Events | If you haven't hung up your bag for the summer we have a few events planned that may be of interest: Aug 23 Summer Sizzler Doubles One day 2 rounds $10 entry all cash payout pro-am pairing., Sept 6-7 Feather River Open PDGA B Tier, flyer soon @ norcalseries.com., October 4th Discraft Ace Race, $25 gets you two discs, hat, mini, ace runs all day. Hope to see you in the 'ville. | 7/18/2008 1:51:08 PM | 7 | chipshot |
| Anderson Pads | We will be pouring the 5 pads that need it Saturday morning around 8am. If you would like to come out and help with the work or guard the pads after the work you are welcome to. Also we need someone to build a couple of sign frames to match the other park signs...6 X 6 legs w/4 x 4 crossmembers etc-see me for details-will pay material + reasonable labor charge..(unless you want to do it out of the goodness of your heart) | 7/14/2008 7:58:38 PM | 1 | shastamaster |
| Anderson Baskets | We have recently been accepted for a grant through The Machonall foundation for new baskets at Anderson. And in doing that the club has to pay 10% to our non profit org. that has done really all the leg work as far as promoting disc golf to all these different organizations. Not to take away from Fenner, Berabont and Kirby at All. Without these three there would be no Anderson at all. The grant that we are receiving goes to the purchasing of baskets for Anderson. Nothing else. We do have other things in the works but like everything they take time. This stuff is all realy a wait and hope for the best kind of game. We have been extremly luky in the last year. Anderson has realy stepped up and tried to work with the Disc Golf community and so is Redding. We are in the mist of getting land from the city for a new course, but it is going to be a few more months before any kind of go ahead is granted. I know alot off people think no one is doing anything to promote disc golf in Redding, but the fact is something is being done all the time and if they would like to see the advance, those people are more then welcome to come get involved. I would welcome anymore help in the process of pushing disc golf. We do have 2 core groups that are pushing for more things but when the time comes these people do need alot more help then we offer. Try too remember that if you are going to use these courses it would be nice to think "hey I helped put that course in, it took us all day to do that work". We do have a huge project in the future and I would like to see everyone in Redding to proticipate in one act of making that happen.
P.S. Dave Clark hit another ACE pot at league $227.
To the most consistant player in the league. GREAT JOB DAVE CLARK.
Thanks again for all the work anyone has done and will do in the future. THE BUS | 7/13/2008 7:28:24 AM | 1 | THEBUS |
| Anderson Park Pads | Cash is now available for the baskets/pads at the course. For the pads I need 2 X 4's to form up 5 pads...so about 125'-does anyone have some laying around? If so give me a call or better yet go to holes 1,2,3,8, or 14 and put together a form. As soon as all forms are in place we can pour them. Parks want 3 bis for the baskets, and will take low bid, so I am putting that together-we will also be getting a sign pointing to hole 1 from the street, and a bulletin board type sign for hole 1... | 7/8/2008 9:02:02 PM | 9 | shastamaster |

| Stats! | I am excited to be going to the Shasta Shootout in a week, but am a little confused as to why the stats are not yet posted. I understand that Jan is busy with work and family, but is he the only one who can get it done? I am not trying to be rude or anything. I have 4 kids of my own and work 40-60 hours a week, so I agree that doing stats isnt really a very high priority in the grand scheme of things. I just had hoped to know where everyone stood before we actually got to the Shootout. Maybe someone else with less on their plate should do stats? Anyway, I do have to thank Jan for doing them at all. I know how thankless the whole thing has become from my time as a TD. Anyhow, I guess the whole mystery of who is in the skins and leading divisions and all will be solved at the Shootout. Good luck to everyone except you advanced golfers! | 6/21/2008 5:29:00 PM | 5 | JedLack |
| Shasta Shootout Update June 19th | Below is a list of players that are registered. Do you see anybody who you know who is not coming? We need to get 100 golfers to pay the bills…Are the divisions correct for all golfers?
Let your golfers know that registration is over at 8:30am on Sat morning…paid or not you have to register and let us know your there…9am we are driving up the hill and if your not registered your will miss your opportunity to play round 1. We have 5 somes on every hole and four 5 somes at the top so there will not be room to shove you in if your late.
Next thing to make this event happen – WE NEED TRUCKS…Who can drive up the hill? With no trucks there is not tournament. Let me know who is going to drive, how many people and what division you are playing. Thanks to all drivers in advanced.
Baskets – We have 5 from Chip and Flicker that the Bohns will deliver on Friday…is this kosher?...The Bus will deliver 6 baskets on Friday…Joel Howard will deliver 1 basket on Friday…JD will have 4 baskets on Friday…
All baskets need to be at the course no later than noon on Friday…Damon – can we use your baskets and are you coming out Friday?
That is it for now…let me know any other thoughts or concerns,
JD

| Discipline issues | Here is how it works right now. There are four people on what we will call the board. The event coordinator - JD, Stats -Jan, Treasure - SR and Sponsors dude - The Bus. These 4 people will deal with all discipline issues and others to try and come up with a fair resolution. We will ask for support from the 8 tds and take thier input in our decisions. These 4 and 12 including the td's put there time and effort into the series (not that other dont) and will be the governing body of our series. We will come up with a more formal disciplinary format at our Sept tournament when we discuss the up coming series. As of now this is what we got. This is a series by the golfers and for the golfers...plain and simple...and will make decsions that hopefully represent the best for the most golfers...not easy to do but that is how we will try and make our decisions. Any questions on the format please ask.
P.S. I would rather not deal with disciplianty issues in my extra caricular activites BUT that is life...not easy decisions but ones that have to be made. | 5/13/2008 5:42:46 PM | 3 | JLee |

| New Guy | Hi. Many of you have met me already (Quentin-call me "Q"), but this is my first year and all I know course-wise is Enterprise, Anderson, Simpson, COS, and Skull's place (David & Tinker). I would like to try out some new courses but I don't know where they are or how to get to them. Call me if you want to show me around and I'll provide the transportation & gas. I'm a good designated driver, too. 227-6766 | 4/25/2008 7:38:20 PM | 4 | Questalot |

| Anderson River Park | Wes, Kirby, Dave C. and I met this morning and put the course back together. Kirby has been spending lots of time at the park trying to figure out the best way to fix it, and he came up with a solution I think everyone will like. Temporary signs are up, and pads are roughed in, so go on out and see how you like it. | 4/13/2008 8:41:23 PM | 1 | shastamaster |

| Food @ COS | What's the food situation look like???? Is there gonna be any catering at this tournament?? Word is, you should bring your own lunch.... Would have been nice to know this a few days ago.. WTF? | 4/11/2008 3:38:30 PM | 2 | TheJoe |
| Course designer blues | Did a BUNCH of work to the new course the last two weeks and Jim Cooper has been doing a bunch of grounds keeping at COS. I have not had any practice time for the tourney but did get to the course today to paint a few touch up things to have the course looking nice. I get there and they had started logging today on the course. Needless to say the course is a bit messy, Jim’s paths are gone on more than a few holes AND a few holes are easier with the trees being cut. The big one being the tree that created the dog leg on Oscar the Grouch…that is the breaks…So be patient this weekend…we had it looking great and now it is not looking so great… | 4/9/2008 3:44:48 PM | 2 | JLee |
| COS | Schedule:

| Stuff again | One more thing...we are playing five dollar doubles on Sunday morning at 10am at the new course in Mt. Shasta...
| 4/8/2008 8:11:41 AM | 0 | JLee |
| Stuff | 1. The Gabe Lack Memorial @ the Lake Redding Golf Course has been changed to May 3rd. We got a date change from the owner…sorry for the inconvenience but that is how the ball bounces when your trying to organize these things. Please tell the boys in your area.
2. Story – Some times the sun just shines on you as it has for the Weed boys as of late. Last weekend we poured cement for 18 collars (9 holes reg and alt placement) on the new Shastice course. Every thing went as planned and we put the temp baskets on the second 9 hole layout. Course is coming together. I have been doing some recon and have the 3rd nine hole lay out in my head but lots more clearing to be completed AND we still don’t have any way to shore up the side of our new mound Shasta that is twice as large as the COS hole. On Monday I run in to a buddy at baxters and long story short I get 100 10”x10”x6’ long treated posts donated for Mound Shasta. That is 100 x $35 = about $3500 in lumber. Anyways, I do some clearing on Sat and then all the boys put in a long day starting the landscaping on Mound Shasta on Sun. It is about half done and looks SWEEEEETTTTT… About 4:30 we are beat and about to go home and ANOTHER buddy roles up and we start talking and he takes a look at the first fairway that need to be cleared for the last 9 holes. Long story short…30 minutes later he is back with a excavator and a brush hog and CLEARS THE REST OF THE FAIRWAYS….350 ft long, 50 ft wide and 6 ft tall buck brush and manzanita…gone…better yet he mulches it and it is ready to play…good week for the Weed boys?
3. Anyways…see you all at COS this weekend. Party will be at the Weed Brewery…

| Stuff | Sorry about that…Jan actually sent a while ago and I spaced…
Damon – will you please post? Are you around today…need to get a hold of you at some point…
Shasta Shootout – it is set in stone…June 28th and 29th…I will have flyers at COS. Get your money and those who are in your area let them know. I already put the word out in Sacramento and have phone calls coming in. I really want to fill up this year to cover the costs. Sorry for anybody who I screwed by changing the dates but I did not want to have to worry about snow melt and the drift that would not allow us to drive to the saddle.
Bus, Bohn and Chip – how are we doing on disc sales? We need to get $1200 to make everything go easy…
Bus – start looking at the new bag tags so we can have them at Shasta.
I’m working on pants for the Champions….
Anything else I missed?

| Anderson River Park | It seems holes 3 and 4 have been bulldozed...pins signs pads gone...waiting for a call back from parks to see what the f$#k is going on | 3/21/2008 6:03:38 PM | 16 | shastamaster |
| Anderson Tweaks | I moved three of the pins at Anderson. Holes 11, 13, and 14. Moved 11 straight right into the hollow I carved out for the SS Tournament. Moved 13 a little longer and back into the berries. Moved 14 back about 30 ft. and to the right. You can't see it from the tee anymore, but it is clearly visible as you approach. Reasons? Mainly just checking out some new positions for alternate pin positions if and when we ever get baskets. More specific: 13 - moved it to cut down on the back door route a little, as it seems to be slowing down play. 14 - because of the vandalism to the trees in front. | 3/18/2008 2:12:36 PM | 3 | Kirbyr98 |

| A-holes at Anderson | I'm disappointed to say that some people (punks) are taking liberties at Anderson, and ripping down branches, shrubs and the like from the course. They totally ruined the entrance to #14, breaking off the limbs that guarded the front. C'mon people. Let's police ourselves. If you think a shot is too tough, go play somewhere else. Don't make another Enterprise Park out of a couse with some actual challenge. Large branches cannot be replaced, and they are integral to the course. Now I have to make the hole longer to compensate for some jerk(s). Can you tell I'm not happy?? | 3/10/2008 7:57:26 PM | 3 | Kirbyr98 |

| "Blind hole" survey | Was wondering peoples opinion of "blind holes" where you can't see the pin from the tee pad. At Anderson holes 1,2,3,7,8,9,13,15,and 18 are set up this way, and someone recently told me that it was a rule of thumb that you should be able to see the pin from the tee pad. Anyone serious about DG should definitely download and read this document. Example: The OB line is OUT OF BOUNDS. Not in like it used to be. Turning in a wrong scorecard is a TWO stroke penalty. | Shasta series news coverage! | Thanks to Nick Cahill, a story was published today in the Orion, the award winning Chico Stae News paper. If you don't already know, Nick writes for the paper. He put me in contact with Elizabeth Varin, the girl who came out and braved the wind and rain to get the story. You can find it under sports at the web adress below. | Chico Challenge | I would like to thank everyone who braved the weather and made it to the Chico Challenge. I don't think it would matter if we held it in the middle of summer we would still get some crazy weather.
I you like to Thank everyone who helped out. This was one of the easiest Chico Challenges to date.Thankyou for stepping up and helping me out this year. Thankyou evrybody that brought out their basket(s) for the course. Dale, Dominic, Ron for setting up the course gameday. Chip for helping out in many ways. The guys at the Bear for counting cards and artifact restoration. JR. for running the computer, and other things you did and do for the series. Sr helping out gameday/pregameday. For getting insurance and park resevations. Chico boys it is not too late to sponsor Chico Challenge. Both SR. and myself are out money. If I missed anyone remind me at Hoursetown and I'll give you a BIG HUG.
Once again thankyou everyone who made it, and if you didn't make it. Where were you? You missed lots of fun.
See everyone in Horsetown....SILVERBACK ATTACK!!!!!

| tournement style | I just wanted to say thanks to the chico boys for all their hard work it really was a challenging course, even before the weather cam in. I also think I should say that we had some huge controversy in scoring and stealing. My putter was taken out of my bag between holes 16 witch I birdyied and hole 18 before I drove. I know that we have some shady people in our midst but this is a prity dome thing to do. If someone really liked my putter that much I probably would of just gave it to them if they wanted it but instead I am the next victom in this stupid act among friends. So to whoever has my black aviar with a blank top good luck using it? Hope no one see's you with it on the course. Luckally I don't need a special disc to make the put. Now about the scoring. People need to start counting each others shots. ON EVERY HOLE. It is even more important to BE NICE ABOUT CORRECTING THE OTHER PERSON. If people make a mistake just recount it with them and move on NOT EVERYONE IS A CHEAT! But with that there are people to watch on a constant basis and it is up to your group to each take turns on scoring in every round of the tourny's NO QUESTIONS ASKED. If this doen't happen we should start DNF'ing people because it is part of the prosess and it keeps people like JD and I have to confront people at the end of a tourny and say there is no way you could make that shot. Things need to be settled in your group and final. And when there is a point when you need a judge you then come to us and we will talk it out calmly! There has been way to much talking around people's back about situations. If you think someone was cheating in your group. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE IN WATCHING THEIR ROUND OF GOLF TO PROVE THAT THEY WERE CHEATING!!!!
With that I would also like to say good job to everyone who finished. That was the worst day of golf ever!!

| Chico Challenge Update and Directions | Well I hope everyone who made the last weekly had fun! I know I did, and I hope you are all ready for some disc golf in Chico! If you read Nicks post, the media will be there, so remember this is a wide open public park and no "glass" is allowed..... The weather report for Saturday is sunny, which means more people in the park. So be ready to wait if and when a kid run across the fairway or whatever may come our way. I’m sure you all remember the old Caldwell park course. Our layout works well with people in the park, but they have the right of way, so lets be patient and courteous and all will go smoothly. We will go over the course O.B, holes to put spotters on and everything else in the Players Meeting.
We are about 99% sure we are going to the Madison Bear Gardens and will invade the back patio area for our awards.
Directions:
Community park is located in Chico on the west side of hwy 99 off 20th street at the end of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. Coming into Chico from Redding on 99 south, take the 20th Street Exit and turn right. From Hwy 99 North take the 20th Street Exit and turn left and cross the overpass. At the traffic light at the corner of 20th and MLKJ parkway, turn right (Meeks lumber is on the corner). This is MLKJ parkway, and it dead ends into the park and a mini storage place. Turn left to enter the park then immediately right and head towards the ball fields. We will be meeting near the first large ball field on the left as you drive in.

| Chico Challenge Media Coverage | Just wanted to let you guys know that there will be the possibility of some media coverage Saturday. I know that the Chico State newspaper will most likely be there, and I'm assuming some local TV news may show up. I know it dosen't need to be said, but lets be on good behavior if asked to do an interview or something of the sort. Any positive coverage disc can get in Chico is huge, HUGE! See you all out there. | Help out some old men... | I'm not too proud to beg. We have to relocate some holes at Anderson, and we need help clearing out the stinking berry patch that is currently in the way. KFen and I are too old to do this all by ourselves. Come help out Sunday at 7:00 am. Bring your clippers, machetes, ninja swords or whatever. Be part of the solution!!! If you don't help, no fair bitching about the crappy holes later! :) | 1/18/2008 8:02:13 PM | 7 | Kirbyr98 |
| Chico Disc Golf Club Weekly at UOB COC! | Tomorrow 1/19/2008, At 10:00am the CDGC weekly will be held at Community Park on the temp course that will be used in the upcoming Chico Challenge on 2/2/8. Bring a basket and help set up the course at 9:30a, Play should start at about 10:00am | 1/18/2008 1:21:47 PM | 2 | Senior |
| Chico Challenge at the U.O.B. C.O.C Update! | Well, we have the UOB at City of Chico all laid out and tees marked with white numbers/crop marks and pins with small white circle. We will put small flags and tee signs in just before the event to mark the box's and will have baskets the day of the event. So far a few players have got out and have been trying to avoid all the O.B. and have really liked the course. Jr. and I will be traveling north this weekend and will bring copies of the course maps and hole descriptions and park rules and all needed directions to the RDGC ice bowl. The layout is still being reviewed, so there could be some slight adjustments by the day of the event. We want to make a pre-event announcement here so you can pass the word along to anyone you might know... Community Park is a high-profile venue (a fish bowl). They also have the special double-fine zone because of the children. I know these types of laws are nothing new to us, but this is the FIRST EVER DISC GOLF event in community park and maybe even in Chico city limits, and I have heard rumors that there could be city/park officails and local business people dropping in to see the action. We just want to put our best foot foward and are asking that the Shasta Series members put in the effort to ensure disc golf gets good publicity in Chico. This is going to be alot of fun and drinking alcohol is allowed in the park, but no glass is allowed, so please keep it cool and lets avoid any drunk in public issues. Although it is not confirmed yet, we may get to hold the awards in Historic down-town Chico at the Madison Bear Garden(Da Bear!) See you this weekend!!! | 1/16/2008 12:45:50 PM | 4 | Senior |
| Anderson River Park | I am going down to the park to pull the pins on hole 1 and 2 as we have a complaint from the treatment plant again. It seems someone cut a hole in the cyclone fence to get their disc..and also that a disc had again plugged up the workings on the plant. To remedy this we will probably be moving 1 & 2 to the woods across the street from hole 3. I am also going to move the pin on hole 3 to the alternate location to eliminate the danger of going over the corner of the fence on hyzer shots. So please start at hole 3 until the "new"1 and 2 are placed..K-FEN | 1/14/2008 3:39:58 PM | 4 | shastamaster |

| Chico Challenge..... | Just an update on our temp course at Community Park off 20th street in chico... We are close to finalizing the layout and will let you all know when the course will be done. We have to get final approval from CARD. The main prcatice problem is no targets until the day of... I planning bringing a temp basket and then the group takes turns running the basket each new hole.... We will probably host a weekly the weekend before but I have to confirm with Steve, Dale and CARD etc.... | 1/11/2008 2:36:08 PM | 2 | Senior |

| Anderson recap/Stuff | So another Anderson in the books and although we did not get the rain the wind was heavy. We had some good battles with two divisions ending in playoffs. Jed Lack beat Fenner in the Adv division and …. Matt Enyeart beat Steve Lonjin in a playoff for the Am division. Thom crushed the Adv Mstr field and would have beaten his buddy Kirby in the Pro Mstr. Even with the weather we had 69 golfers out there playing.
TD’s – A look at what worked at the tournament.
1. Making sure that the computer matched the cards before the first round. We also got the number of golfers in each division and total golfers so we could have the money completed at lunch. One thing we missed was counting non bag taggers.
2. Counting the money at lunch and stuffing envelopes. It took two people about 15 minutes. The TD’s had the envelopes already made up which saved at least another 10 or 15 minutes (Mandatory to have the envelopes done prior to the event…if you have questions on this one let me know).
A couple things to work on.
1. Make sure to have the people that are going to help lined out prior to the event. Look at the TD instructions for number of people needed. Also make sure the person you ask to do the job can actually pull it off. The computer is one that you just cant toss at somebody…
2. The person running the computer should get to the awards and set up the computer as quickly as possible. It takes time to get it up and running.
3. Who ever is responsible for the cards should send the ones already collected with the computer person and SOMEBODY stay back and gather the remaining cards. You need to then come to the awards because we will be waiting on data entry for these cards.
All in all it ran pretty good. I think we would have been done and ready for awards in no more than 50 minutes if we would have had the cards. With 100 golfers we should be able to pull it off in an hour. The key is to set up the computer matching the scorecards before the first round…again you have to double check the cards against the computer before the first round…I can not say it enough times. Count each division and then make sure there are that many cards. If one division does not match go through the cards and get it corrected…simple…
See you all in Chico…Chico boys…do you have everything dialed AND can we get directions…
Discs are in so we will have some for sale and be giving them away. We also have a bag tag that was returned so will be CTPing that away. I will bring some other swag as well that will be sold.
I need a person from each town to sell plastic…we need to sell 100 discs and our budget will be beyond golden…4 towns 25 discs a piece…Bohns? Frink? Bus? JD is in for 25…
